Timeline (Available in both HTML and FLASH)

The timeline is a visual exploration of key events in the history of science with particular emphasis on chemistry created by artist Murray Robertson.

Individual items are illustrated and linked to further information on each subject. The timeline is an evolving project and continues to expand, encompassing a wide range of subjects with relevance to general and scientific knowledge.

Visual Elements (Available in both HTML and FLASH)

Visual Elements is an arts and science collaborative project supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry which aims to explore and reflect upon the diversity of elements that comprise matter in as unique and innovative manner as possible.

Visual Elements aims to produce a new and vibrant visual assessment of the startling diversity of material that constitutes the world in which we live, not simply by rendering images of the respective elements but also by investigating the manner in which they affect our daily lives in largely unseen and often unexpected ways.

IUPAC Compendium of Chemical Terminology

The Compendium is popularly referred to as the "Gold Book", in recognition of the contribution of the late Victor Gold, who initiated work on the first edition.

It is one of the series of IUPAC "Colour Books" on chemical nomenclature, terminology, symbols and units, and collects together terminology definitions from IUPAC recommendations already published in Pure and Applied Chemistry and in the other Colour Books.

An interactive online version of the Compendium is freely available for searching from the IUPAC website.
